Cable vs Adapter conundrum? The cable wins!

Latest spec DisplayPort v1.2 HBR2 for Ultra HD 4K @ 60Hz resolutions! Compatible with both Mini-DisplayPort and Apple Thunderbolt 2 ports for AV output.

If you're connecting a Mini-DisplayPort device up to a full-sized DisplayPort screen and don't know if you should go for an adapter or a cable - reach for the cable! By reducing the number of connections in the run, you can ensure your video and audio are going to be at their best when they reach their destination. Also, adapters can often restrict room on small devices, causing cable strain when you have bulky adapters and cables jammed together - a cable avoids that completely by offering you standard size plugs and plenty of room!

2 metres is also a handy length for navigating around your desktop clutter, or sneaking in behind furniture and other components. However, it's still easily portable if you need to pack up your kit and go for a road trip!

Compatible with all current HBR2 DisplayPort abilities including HD, 3D, 4K@60Hz, audio and more.

Question: I have a macbook pro and a displayport to HDMI splitter so I want to support 3840 x 1080 resolution - will the cable support this?
Answer: "This cable is VESA certified for all DisplayPort applications. Provided the HDMI splitter device is capable of handling that resolution and the display matrix, then our adapter will bridge the gap to adapt the plug sizes between the Macbook and the splitter."

Question: Does this cable support 1440p at 60Hz? My monitor has a display port 1.2 input and my VGA has a mini display port output. Will the signal/bandwidth of this mini DP to DP be the same as if I would use a v1.2 DP to DP? Or would you advise sticking to HDMI? Thanks?
Answer: "Absolutely. There are no limitations with MiniDisplayport connectors compared to the full size variant, and 2560x1440@60Hz is no problem for our 2m Mini-Displayport cables. DisplayPort is definitely the superior choice over HDMI for use with a PC, especially if you ever plan to go try 4K@60Hz without buying a new GPU."

Question: Looking to use between MacBook Pro and Panasonic UHDTV - Displayport spec. 1.2a up to 4K 60/50P. Does your cable support 1.2a?
Answer: "Our 2m Mini-Displayport cables are HBR2 rated for 4K @ 60Hz and all other DP v1.2 hardware abilities."

Question: I would like to connect an HP laptop that has a full size DisplayPort 1.2 connector to use my iMac (2x thunderbolt) as an external display. Will this cable support this? Is the Thunderbolt at the "mini" end?
Answer: "Apple have made the iMac compatible only with other Apple computers for use as an external display. Unfortunately your iMac is not compatible with your HP laptop no matter which type of cable connects them."

Question: I would like to connect an HP laptop that has a full size DisplayPort 1.2 connector to use my iMac (2x thunderbolt) as an external display. Will this cable support this? Is the Thunderbolt at the "mini" end?
Answer: "Unfortunately not, you are able to use your iMac as an external display with 'Target Display Mode' but you must be using a Mac as the source device in order for it to work."
