Regular old USB 3.0 doesn't get a lot of love when it comes to boosters and accessories, so we're stoked to have this active repeater cable in our line-up, allowing your printer, barcode scanner, web camera or microscope to be placed for convenient use and not jammed in an awkward corner because the cable is too short!
Standard copper USB extension cables exist, but bandwidth capability drops off pretty quick after just 3 or 4 metres. That means your high-speed peripherals can either slow down considerably or stop working altogether. With an Active Repeater Extension, a chipset powered by the USB source boosts the data stream back up to 5Gbps for true super-speed access to your devices at longer lengths than ever before.
Most regular USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse) won't need any extra power. Devices with their own power supply (printers) will also work 'out of the box' without any issues. Devices which expect to use all of the available USB 3.0 power are catered for via a USB-C power injection point. Although a USB-C cable is not included, you can easily use any USB Type-A to Type-C cable to draw power from a spare USB socket or wall charger. Nothing fancy is required, just a 5V1A source will be enough to make up for anything lost by the booster chip working its magic.
