There's no fluff whatsoever with this AV switcher. You just get 4 sets of 3RCA inputs, and 1 matching AV output, all packaged in a quality metal housing. It's just the thing you need for when your TV has a limited number of RCA inputs, and you want to switch between a number of connected devices. I know with my retro games collection, this is always a problem :-)
The switching duties are handled by a physical push-button, which is the way I like it. No more remotes to lose, no power supplies to plug in, and no clutter! Heck, you can even use this little black box for switching Component Video (you know, the red, green and blue connections), just keep in mind if using the switch this way, it won't convert signal formats, so you'll be running Component Video from the inputs, to the output.
But don't think that this RCA stuff is just for old tech. Not by a long shot! The Composite Video (Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr) handles both analog and digital signals up to 1080p, so you can make use of all the component resolutions you may need for your displays or devices. You also get left and right RCA audio channels and well as digital coaxial, which equals audio up to 5.1 Surround Sound and runs of up to around 10 metres (total cabling length) which should get you out of trouble in most living room and home theatre situations.
