The clearest audio you've ever heard from your PC!
If you've ever spent time with an entry-level desktop computer or laptop, you may be familiar with the electronic noise which leaks into your headphones, earbuds or even speakers. You can test it right now - with no sound playing, crank your volume up to full. Hear that? Ugh. That crackle and hiss is pretty common, but on poorly designed hardware it can be a nightmare even at regular listening volumes.
That's where this USB audio adapter shines (also known as a USB sound card). It can drastically reduce (if not totally eliminate) that noise and clean up your audio, allowing you to listen to music, watch films and play games without the underlying hiss. You'll not only get to experience your headphones and speakers as they were meant to be heard, but you'll get a bit of a volume boost, too, thanks to the USB power.
These adapters are also great for avoiding that whole TRRS combo stereo/mic port thing. With USB, you get separate mono microphone and stereo headphone connections that are colour coded and familiar for all users and common to most equipment.
This audio adapter also has some push-button equaliser presets for film, music and gaming. In our testing we found these to be more of a novelty than a useful feature, and we always preferred the original unprocessed audio in all situations, but they are there if you find a need for extra bass.
Note: If your PC has a dedicated sound card or a good gaming-grade motherboard with an isolated audio chipset, this adapter may not improve the noise floor. But for unshielded audio hardware on mid to low-end systems, the difference will be immediately apparent.
