Superior EMI suppression for your high-end gear! Suits cable diameters up to 7.3mm

Also known as a Ferrite Bead, Ferrite Choke, Ferrite Block, Ferrite Ring or EMI filter.

Witness as I attempt to explain how ferrite cores work, without going into a deep dive of the physics of the electromagnetic spectrum. Ferrite cores work by preventing EM interference in two directions, protecting the cable from outside interference and ALSO preventing the cable from emitting signals. Any cable with any kind of metal inside it (most all cables) will act as an antenna. If the devices you've connected your cable to produce RFI or EMI (most all electronic devices) then the cable will transmit and emit these signals as noise, along with the signal they're meant to be transmitting. Additionally, if there's RFI or EMI in the area of the cable, such as other electronic household appliances, the cable will again act as an antenna, receiving these unwanted signals. Ferrite cores, being a conductive and magnetic ceramic, concentrate electromagnetic signals and dissipate them as heat. Don't worry, they don't get hot!

Having said that, a lot of cables these days are actually already up to the task of handling unwanted RFI or EMI. They're usually well made and shielded (at least mine are and designed to handle their expected environments. However, sometimes a cable is used in situations where it's pushed to its limits, most commonly where extra long cables are used in place of more common lengths. In these cases, a ferrite core can help improve signal quality. Grab a pair of cores for a long TV antenna cable or USB cable for example, if you're getting poor signals or dropouts you should immediately notice a difference once the cores are installed. Additionally, if your sensitive AV equipment is picking up noise, such as in a home theatre, installing ferrite cores on your cables might help reduce it!

Speaking of installation, it's literally a snap! All you need to do is clip a ferrite core on to each end of the cable, around 10cm from the connectors, easy! This particular core is designed for cables that are 5mm to 7.3mm wide, we also have a smaller core for thinner cables here.
