Many years ago I ran a customer service operation and I found myself doubting customer sincerity until one day I was speaking with an advisor who shared some of his wisdom. He said to me, policemen think everyone's a criminal because that's who they deal with everyday. The relevance of that to customer service is that we become cynical and doubtful and numb to issues because all we get are problems all day. He gave me a tip I suspect you already know and live by; 98% of customers are honest people and 2% are bastards who'll rip you off. Treat everyone like the 98% not the 2%.
I feel like you've applied that maxim to me, and I'm impressed. To add to the warm fuzzy feeling of a job well done and a satisfied customer, I'll let you in on something, I'm a connector. Most people only complain to friends if they have a problem, I'm one of the people that proactively tells others about good experiences and importantly, difficult situations made good.
