You see, what it does is directly connect your home PC, Mac or Laptop via your in-home wireless router, built-in wireless network card or wired ethernet cabling, and then on to your TV via HDMI. You'll get the best possible resolution through the MirrorOp software which will automatically choose the highest compatible resolution for both displays, temporarily switching them only when you're using the McTiVia. If you already run a 1080p monitor and a 1080p 60hz or better TV, there won't be any switching necessary! For ultimate in crystal clear performance, you can optionally use RJ45 Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet network cable for a wired setup.

McTiVia has two modes of operation: The default 'Video mode' is great for sitting back and relaxing while you watch you newest digital download film, DVD via PC or non-interactive program (you can even run your music playlist with those fancy equalisers!). This is a higher-latency method which allows the McTiVia a few microseconds to ensure smooth playback at all times while saving power.

The second mode is 'App mode', which is automatically selected when it detects input like mouse movement or keystrokes. You can manually set McTiVia into App mode for low-latency, responsive feedback for when you're doing something more interactive like web surfing or playing Angry Birds. It pushes the McTiVia's ARM9 300Mhz processor and consumes a bit more juice, but the option is there when you need it!

So that's basically it. The retail box comes with the McTiVia unit, PC/Mac software driver disc and Australian mains adapter. It can work with USB and wireless keyboards and mice (not included) or alternatively via your iPhone, iPad or Android with apps available via the App Store.
