HDMI is based on Silicon Image's TMDS technology and is fully backwards compatible with PC's and Diplays incorporating the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard, which was also pioneered by Silicon Image.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is one of the latest interconnection technologies which provides the highest quality Digital Audio and Video connection. Basically HDMI carries both the Digital Audio and Video signals in the one cable. Because the signal remains digital from source to display there is no loss from analogue conversion. It is important to note however that HDMI to DVI cables transmit only Video signals due to the DVI standard supporting Digital Video and not Digital Audio.

 Thank you for promptly delivering the High-End Powered 4-Way HDMI Splitter within two days of ordering. The splitter was easy to set up and works exceptionally well. It sends brilliant genuine HD video signals to 1080p LCD TVs. The sound is true with no distortion.
I commend the attention to detail in the design of the splitter – its compactness and the valuable LED displays for external power, input and outputs. Even the packaging matched the high quality of the metal-cased splitter unit. A great product. |

The Digital Audio feature of the HDMI connect is not transmitted due to the DVI port only processing Video signals, hence this cable carries Video signals only.
