HDMI is based on Silicon Image's TMDS technology and is fully backwards compatible with PC's and Diplays incorporating the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard, which was also pioneered by Silicon Image.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is one of the latest interconnection technologies which provides the highest quality Digital Audio and Video connection. Basically HDMI carries both the Digital Audio and Video signals in the one cable. Because the signal remains digital from source to display there is no loss from analogue conversion. It is important to note however that HDMI to DVI cables transmit only Video signals due to the DVI standard supporting Digital Video and not Digital Audio.

 This cable has a heavy duty look and feel to it. Build quality is top notch. This is backed up by it’s excellent performance.
I am using this cable from my laptop to my 46” plasma TV and I am very happy with the results. I cannot detect any fall off in picture quality over the 5m length. No interference with the signal transfer. The end connectors are of high quality finish and fit into my laptop and TV sockets without any use of excessive force. The snug fit at both ends is perfect.
The product arrived in a sealed plastic packet and had ample packaging around it for added protection during shipping. There are no bad points with this cable that I can see and the cable offers fantastic value for money.

As I searched the net for a 5m HDMI Male to DVI-D Male Cable, cable Chick's range and prices were not only less in cost in comparison to other suppliers, but the delivery time was speedy to say the least. Cable Chick doesn't promise to perform, it just does every time you place an order.
Before you might wonder when will my package arrive… there will be a delivery person knocking on your door with the chosen goods. All I can say is if all businesses out there were as efficient as this there wouldn't be people complaining and bickering. Common Applications for this Product
This cable is for connecting one device with HDMI to another device with a DVI-D Connector. This HDMI lead is capable of transmitting uncompressed Digital Video signal.
The Digital Audio feature of the HDMI connect is not transmitted due to the DVI port only processing Video signals, hence this cable carries Video signals only.
Common usages include:
