Cat6 has landed! Time to upgrade.

While 'Cat6' may sound like the name of a swanky gentleman's club, it's really just a top-quality networking cable which is slowly replacing Cat5e in all applications. For now, you can benefit from the high industry standards controlling manufacturing (which result in lower signal loss and better performance) and later come to appreciate the tenfold increase in potential data rate over Cat5.

Being backwards compatible with Cat5 systems means you're safe to install it now and reap the rewards later - you can even mix-n-match Cat5 and Cat6 across your network for a long-term rollout which won't break the bank or cost any extended network downtime. You'll also be able to pick them out of a crowd of blue ethernet leads because my Cat6 cables only come in one colour: BLACK!

Premium CAT6 Cable Features:

  • 5 Year Cable Chick Warranty!
  • 3 meter CAT6 Ethernet Network Cable
  • Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
  • Pre-terminated with male RJ45 8P8C plugs

  • RCM CA/AS 2008:2010 Compliant
  • Telstra Network fully compliant

Product Review by Terry,
Start Quote Hi Cable Chick, Why do I not think that's your real name? Anyway, my latest order was delivered the next day, which is what I've come to expect from you. The 8 socket power board is very good: very robust construction, indicator lights and plenty of space to plug in carpet carbuncles without sacrificing an outlet. The Cat6 cable is now connecting my printer to the network: no problems there. If you keep up with the low prices and the excellent customer service, I'm just going to have to keep coming back for my cabling and associated needs. Start Quote

Question: Is a copper cable going to have any advantage over an optical cable for Nbn box to modem connection?
Answer: "Only in cost. Even if the NBN was fibre-to-the-home, the 3m you need to run from wall to modem is too short to make a difference between cable types. Cat6 cables are rated for 10-Gigabit speeds, which leaves plenty of headroom over the speed of the NBN and should be cheaper than an equivalent quality optical cable."
